The surrounding villages and towns have much to offer, from markets and antique shops, monasteries and churches, shopping, excellent restaurants, to uninhabited villages, donkey rides through ancient mountain villages, strolling along the boulevard with mega-yachts, and enjoying delightful terraces under plane trees. Every visit is unique, and there’s something for everyone!
Some villages have been selected as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages of France” (Les plus beaux villages de France). Only two villages in all of Corsica have this designation:
Pigna and Sant’Antonino. Both villages are adjacent to our village of Aregno.
Sant’Antonino, situated at an altitude of 500 meters on a granite peak, is one of the oldest Corsican villages and also one of the highest in the Balagne region on the northwest coast. The village, its medieval castle, and the protohistoric settlement are all listed as sensitive archaeological sites. The Chapelle Sainte-Anne des Bergers, the Chapelle de la Trinité, the Église de l’Annonciade, and the panoramic view over the Bassin de Nonza are must-sees in Sant’Antonino.

A must-see in our Balagne region is the village of Pigna, with its orange roofs, blue shutters, and artisan and artist studios. Besides several excellent restaurants with terraces offering stunning views, this is also a music village. Numerous performances and shows take place here almost daily. The village is car-free.
